Tourist Information Of United Arab Emirates | Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque In Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, popularly called Grand Mosque by the local population, is seen as a construct to ' unite the world ', using craftsmen and materials from countries such as Italy, Germany, Morocco, India, Turkey, Iran, China, Greece and the UAE. It is also arguably one of the most important architectural treasures of the contemporary UAE society - and one of the most beautiful in the world - initiated no less by the end of HH President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who unfortunately regarded as the father of the UAE. The magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is perhaps the religious and national landmarks the most impressive in Abu Dhabi for the moment.

This is a magnificent building and special sangah, this mosque is the pride of the City of Abu Dhabi. The first consideration for building this mosque began in the late 1980s and a lot of thought given to location and design during the next decade. The initial design is a Moroccan mosque architecture, but evolved to include global features, including exterior walls of the traditional Turkish design. Initial architectural design was agreed and laid the foundation early in the late 1990s. Natural materials are selected for the design and construction because of their long-term quality, including marble, stone, gold, semi-precious stones, crystals and ceramics.
